At the pier with time to find your boat
Bali Hai Pier sits at the far south end of Walking Street, where Pattaya Bay curves round towards the headland. It is where the ferries and speedboats for Koh Larn leave from, and on a sunny morning it fills with day-trippers, tour groups and families carrying inflatables. The streets leading down to it are narrow, and Walking Street itself closes to traffic in the evening, so being dropped close to the pier saves a long, hot walk with bags and children.
That is what the van Pattaya to Bali Hai Pier ride is for. Your driver collects you at the hotel, everyone and everything goes in, and you step out near the pier with time to buy tickets and find the right boat. We do not publish ferry times, so check the current schedule, tell us when you want to be standing at the pier, and we work the pickup back from there.
Packing for Koh Larn with children
An island day really starts the night before: swimsuits, towels, a dry change of clothes, snacks, and enough sun cream for the whole family. The van takes all of it, plus a stroller and a cool bag, so nobody is balancing beach bags on their lap in the back of a songthaew. Children sit properly, the air conditioning is on, and you arrive at the water calm rather than flustered. Older relatives who would rather not walk far appreciate being dropped near the pier just as much as the children do.
- Aim to be at the pier a little before the boat you want
- Keep phones and cash in a waterproof pouch for the crossing
- Tell us the number of children and their ages when you book
- Coming back the same afternoon? Fix the pickup time at the pier before you sail
Booking the ride down to the water
The pier is a short hop from most Pattaya hotels, and a Van Pattaya to Bali Hai Pier ride is quoted as a fixed price for the whole vehicle, confirmed in chat before the trip. Fuel is included, there is no deposit, and you pay the driver in cash after the ride. A pickup when you come back from the island, or a driver who waits, is priced in chat before you go, so the end of a long beach day has no haggling in it.
If the island is only part of your plan — a pier drop in the morning, a pickup in the afternoon, then dinner on the other side of town — lay the whole day out in our trip planner and we quote it as one price. Two people with a beach bag each can take a sedan; a family or a group of friends with all the gear fits best in the nine-seat Toyota Commuter van.
