Two hours in the van with small children
Let’s start with the part parents actually worry about. From Pattaya to the Siam area of Bangkok is two to two and a half hours, most of it on the motorway. In a private van that is manageable: the children can spread out, there is space at your feet for the snack bag, and if someone needs a toilet you only have to tell the driver. Many small children are asleep before the motorway, which means they arrive with energy to spare.
A few things make it easier. Leave after breakfast rather than at dawn, so nobody is overtired. Bring a tablet or a book for the older ones. And if you need a child seat, mention the ages when you book — we will tell you what we can arrange for that date.
An aquarium under a shopping mall
SEA LIFE Bangkok Ocean World is on the lower floors of Siam Paragon, one of the big malls in the middle of the Siam shopping district. That is good news for families: you are dropped at a mall entrance, not a car park in the sun, and everything from the aquarium to lunch and the toilets is under one air-conditioned roof. Inside you walk through themed zones and a glass tunnel with fish and sharks swimming over your head, and the penguins are usually the part children talk about on the way home.
The Van Pattaya to SEA LIFE Bangkok fare is ฿1,900 for the whole Toyota Commuter, our standard central-Bangkok price, with tolls and fuel included. It is a fixed price for the vehicle, so a family of eight pays the same as a family of four.
- Bring a light jumper — mall air-conditioning can feel cold after the drive
- A small backpack beats a big stroller for the tunnel and the crowds
- Tell your driver which entrance you want for pick-up and send a message when you are on your way out
Making a Siam day of it
Siam Paragon is connected to the rest of the area by skywalks, so you can easily add a second stop on foot. Madame Tussauds is a short walk away in Siam Discovery, and there is a separate page for Pattaya to Madame Tussauds Bangkok if that is your main plan. Lunch is easy, and the bigger kids can choose the food court.
For the way home, either book a separate ride back for a fixed time or ask for a same-day return and keep the same van and driver. Waiting time and return trips are priced in chat before you go. Couples or a parent with one child can take a smaller car for less — sedans start at ฿1,200. Either way, the van Pattaya to SEA LIFE Bangkok trip ends with you paying the driver in cash, no deposit beforehand.
