Hill country on the Myanmar border

Suan Phueng is a district in the far west of Ratchaburi province, right up against the Myanmar border in the Tenasserim hills. It is a world away from Pattaya’s beaches: green hills, farms, cooler mornings, especially in the cool season, and a long list of resorts, cafes and photo-friendly attractions built for weekend visitors from Bangkok. People go to slow down, eat well, sleep in a cabin with a view and drive between small places on quiet country roads.

It is not somewhere you pop into for an afternoon. Most visitors stay at least one night, and many stay two or three.

A long drive, so plan the breaks

Be honest with yourself about the distance. From Pattaya, the trip goes up and round through Bangkok and then west, and you should plan on about four to five hours, longer if Bangkok traffic is heavy when you pass through. The last part winds into the hills on smaller roads. That is exactly why a private van makes sense: the same driver all the way, real seats, room for the luggage of a few nights away and stops whenever you want.

  • Leave mid-morning to miss the worst of the Bangkok traffic and arrive in daylight
  • Send the exact name of your resort and a map pin — many are down small side roads
  • Bring a light jacket for the cool-season evenings and early mornings
  • Damnoen Saduak floating market is in the same province; ask if you want it as a stop on the way

Ask for any stops when you book, rather than on the day, and the driver can plan the route around them. If a market stop appeals, there is a separate page for Pattaya to Damnoen Saduak.

Getting around once you are there, and getting back

Suan Phueng’s attractions are spread out across the hills and public transport is thin, so think about how you will move around after you arrive. Some groups keep the van for a multi-day trip; others book just the drive there and a separate pick-up on the way home. Return trips, waiting time and multi-day plans are always priced in chat before you go, so you know the whole cost before you leave Pattaya.

For the drive itself, the fixed price for the whole vehicle is confirmed in chat before the trip, with tolls and fuel included. A van Pattaya to Suan Phueng booking takes up to nine people and eight bags; smaller cars suit a couple. Send the date, the number of people and where you are staying on WhatsApp, LINE or the form. No deposit — you pay the driver in cash at the end. Van Pattaya to Suan Phueng is a long run, and it is worth doing in comfort.
