Three stops people usually combine
Chachoengsao is the province just north of Chonburi, on the Bang Pakong River, and it is close enough to Pattaya for a relaxed day out. Most people come for three places. Wat Sothon Wararam, in the town, is home to Luang Pho Sothon, one of the most revered Buddha images in Thailand; Thais travel from all over the country to make a wish or give thanks. Wat Saman Rattanaram, outside town on the riverbank, is known for its giant reclining pink Ganesha. And Ban Mai Market is an old riverside market of wooden shophouses, with snacks and sweets from the Chinese and Thai families who have traded there for generations.
None of them is far from the others, but they are spread out enough that you want your own driver rather than hunting for taxis between each one.
A half day, or an easy full one
From Pattaya, plan on about an hour and a half each way. That makes Chachoengsao one of the more manageable temple trips from the coast: you can leave after breakfast, see all three, have a riverside lunch and still be back in Pattaya before the evening. A van Pattaya to Chachoengsao trip usually means the driver stays with you for the day, takes you from stop to stop and waits while you visit.
Because the day is a multi-stop one, the price is agreed before you go. Tell us which places you want to see and roughly how long you want at each, and the fixed price for the whole vehicle is confirmed in chat. Waiting time and extra stops are included in that quote, not added at the end.
- Dress for temples: shoulders and knees covered at Wat Sothon
- Bring small notes for offerings, snacks at the market and drinks
- At the Ganesha temple, the custom is to whisper your wish into the ear of the small mouse statues
- Wat Sothon gets busy at weekends and on Buddhist holy days, so start early if you can
Families, grandparents and first-timers
This is a good trip for mixed groups. The distances are short, the walking is mostly flat, and there is plenty of shade at the temples and under the market roofs. Grandparents can rest in the van between stops while the others walk on. The Toyota Commuter van takes up to nine people, and smaller cars are available if there are only two or three of you.
Booking a Van Pattaya to Chachoengsao day is the same as any other trip: send the date, the number of people and your hotel in Pattaya on WhatsApp, LINE or the form. The price is fixed in chat beforehand, tolls and fuel included, no deposit, and you pay the driver in cash at the end of the day. If you want to see more of the region by van, our private van service page explains the vehicles.
