The beach Bangkok goes to at the weekend
Bang Saen feels different from Pattaya as soon as you arrive. Instead of bars and high-rise hotels there is a long beach road lined with deckchairs, umbrellas and seafood stalls, and the crowd is mostly Thai: families down from Bangkok for the weekend, groups of friends, and students from Burapha University just up the road. It is the classic Chonburi seaside trip, relaxed and much more local than international.
From Pattaya the van Pattaya to Bang Saen ride takes about an hour heading north, past Si Racha, so you can leave after breakfast and still have a long day on the sand. Weekend afternoons are the busiest time, on the road and on the beach, so a weekday visit is noticeably calmer.
Monkeys on the hill, lunch under an umbrella
Right by the beach is Khao Sam Muk, a small hill with a shrine, a sea view and troops of monkeys that wander across the road and onto parked cars. It makes a good short stop, as long as food, sunglasses and phones stay out of reach. Back on the beach road, vendors rent out chairs and umbrellas and many will bring food over from the stalls, which is how a lot of Thai families spend an entire afternoon: eating, talking and going into the water every so often. Late in the afternoon the light softens and the beach fills with people walking along the water's edge, which is a good moment to start back before the evening traffic builds.
- Pack swimwear, a towel and a dry change of clothes for the ride back
- Hold on to snacks and bags near Khao Sam Muk — the monkeys are quick
- Go on a weekday if you want space; weekends bring the Bangkok crowds
- Agree a pickup spot on the beach road before your driver leaves you
Booking the beach day for your group
Bang Saen is not on our standard rate table, so tell us your Pattaya pickup, the number of people and whether you want a one-way drop or a whole day with the driver waiting. We confirm one fixed price for the whole vehicle in chat before the trip, with tolls and fuel included, and you pay the driver in cash after the ride. Return trips, waiting time and extra stops are all priced in chat before you go, never added on the day.
For a group with cool boxes, inflatables and beach bags, the Toyota Commuter van is the comfortable choice: nine seats and room for eight bags, with nobody holding a wet towel on their lap on the way home. A Van Pattaya to Bang Saen booking also makes it simple to add a seafood dinner in Si Racha or Ang Sila on the way back. If you want to plan a full day with several stops, lay it out in the trip planner.
