So close across the water, so far by road
On a map, Hat Chao Samran looks almost opposite Pattaya across the Gulf of Thailand. By road it is a different story: there is no bridge across the bay, so the drive goes up past Bangkok's southern edge and then down the western coast into Phetchaburi province. Plan on about four hours, give or take traffic around the city, which is why most people treat it as a holiday transfer rather than a day trip.
That is exactly the kind of journey where a private van makes sense. A van Pattaya to Hat Chao Samran keeps the whole group together with all the beach bags, coolers and swim rings in the back, and the driver can stop for a stretch, a coffee and a toilet break whenever you need one.
What waits at the end of the drive
Hat Chao Samran is a long, gently sloping beach in Phetchaburi, a little north of Cha-am and Hua Hin. It is calmer and more local in feel than its big neighbours: Thai families on weekends, seafood restaurants facing the sea, small resorts and holiday homes along the beach road. People come for the quiet, the long walks along the sand and the fresh seafood, not for nightlife. After a few days in Pattaya, that change of pace is often the whole point.
Phetchaburi town, with its hilltop palace and old temples, is within easy reach, and Cha-am and Hua Hin are further down the same coast if you want a change of scene during your stay.
- Send the resort name or a map pin — beach-road addresses can be hard to find
- Leave early to get through the Bangkok side before the traffic builds
- Tell us if you want a rest stop at a particular time, for children or for lunch
- Bring snacks and a charger cable for the ride; it is a long one
A fixed price for the whole road trip
Send your pick-up address, the number of people and how much luggage you are bringing, and we confirm a fixed price for the whole vehicle in chat before the trip. Tolls and fuel are included, there is no deposit, and you pay the driver in cash when you arrive. The Toyota Commuter seats nine and takes eight bags, so most families and groups of friends fit in one van.
Coming back to Pattaya at the end of your stay, or stopping at Phetchaburi or Cha-am on the way, is priced in chat before you go. If you are still deciding where on this coast to stay, our Pattaya to Hua Hin page covers the same route a little further south. Either way, a Van Pattaya to Hat Chao Samran booking takes one message.
