Half a day on the road, planned properly
This is a long one. Leaving the coast, you head inland past the factories and fruit farms of the east, and the road gradually climbs towards the plateau of the north-east. Plan on four hours or more, depending on traffic and how often you stop. On a drive this length, stops matter. Thai highway petrol stations have clean toilets, coffee and snacks, and you can ask the driver to pull in whenever someone needs a break. Nobody is in a hurry to get the van back before you are ready.
Start early if you can. A morning departure gets you into Korat in daylight, with time to check in, find your family's house or have a late lunch before the evening. If you are going for a festival or a family occasion, remember that everyone else is heading the same way, so leave even earlier and expect busier petrol stations along the route.
What you find at the other end
Nakhon Ratchasima, Korat for short, is one of Thailand's largest cities and the usual gateway to Isan. In the middle of town stands the Thao Suranari Monument, the local heroine everybody calls Ya Mo, in front of the old city gate; people come to pay their respects and leave offerings, and it is worth a stop on the way in. The province around the city is wide, from the Khmer ruins at Phimai to the countryside towards Khao Yai, so if Korat is just the first step of a bigger trip, tell us where you are going next.
- Send the full address in Thai if you have it, especially for villages outside the city
- Moving house? List the big items so we can confirm they fit
- Travelling with older parents? Plan a stop roughly every couple of hours
- Want to visit the monument before your drop-off? Ask, and it is priced in chat
Why a whole van makes sense for Korat
On a short ride, a car is just a car. On a Van Pattaya to Korat (Nakhon Ratchasima) trip it is where you spend half the day, so the space counts. The Toyota Commuter has nine proper seats and room for eight bags, which suits families heading home for a holiday or anyone carrying more than a weekend's luggage. Smaller cars are available for one or two people. Tolls and fuel are included, there is no deposit, and you pay the driver in cash after the ride.
The fixed price for your van Pattaya to Korat (Nakhon Ratchasima) trip is confirmed in chat before you travel. Return trips, extra stops and multi-day plans are priced in chat before you go, and if you want to map out a longer route with several stops, you can lay it out on our trip planner.
