Where Sukhumvit meets Asok Montri
Asok is the busy crossroads where Sukhumvit Road meets Asok Montri Road, and for many visitors it is simply "central Bangkok". The BTS Skytrain's Asok station and the MRT's Sukhumvit station meet here, which makes it one of the easiest bases in the city. Around the junction you find office towers, a long run of hotels and serviced apartments, the Terminal 21 shopping mall, and the nightlife of Soi Cowboy a short walk away. People come for conferences, a few nights of shopping and eating, or a contract that starts on Monday morning. The area stays lively late into the night, and food of every kind is within a short walk, from street stalls to hotel dining rooms.
All of that is why a Van Pattaya to Asok ride is about as simple as a Bangkok transfer gets: one fixed fare, the motorway most of the way, door to door.
The last few hundred metres are the slow part
The motorway from Pattaya is the easy bit; plan on two to two and a half hours overall. The final stretch is where the time goes. The Asok junction is known for long traffic lights, and many hotels sit down narrow side sois where one-way rules mean the driver may need to loop around. Send us the exact address or a map pin, not just "Asok", and the driver takes you to the lobby door rather than leaving you on the main road with your cases. Moving into a serviced apartment? Ask the building where cars can stop; some have a covered drop-off, others only a short stretch of kerb on the soi.
- Share the hotel name and a Google Maps pin in the chat
- Checking in during the afternoon? Leave Pattaya before lunch to stay ahead of the evening build-up
- If a colleague or friend is meeting you, give the driver their number too
- Heading back to Pattaya later in the week? Book the return in the same chat
A sedan for the laptop bag, a van for the family
The price is per vehicle and already covers tolls and fuel. A business traveller on their own with one case is perfectly comfortable in a sedan, which starts at ฿1,200. A group of colleagues, or a family with big suitcases, is better off in the Toyota Commuter van: nine seats, eight bags, ฿1,900 one way, the same fare as anywhere in central Bangkok. Staying in Asok but shopping one stop along at Phrom Phong? Our EmQuartier page covers that end of Sukhumvit. Either way, booking is free and you pay the driver in cash after the van Pattaya to Asok ride.
Asok also works well as a stopover. Some travellers spend a night or two here before a flight, a train or a meeting elsewhere in Bangkok, then move on. If that is your plan, send the full route in one message and we price each leg in chat, so the whole trip is agreed before you set off.
